Growing up, I became interested in music after hearing Benny Goodman tunes.  I wanted to play the clarinet just like him.  My parents supported me and my hat goes off to them for putting up with the countless hours of honks, squeaks, and other noises that came from hours of practicing.  Eventually, these practice sessions led to a 3-week tour of Europe with a high school musical ensemble and a growing appreciation for other musical instruments – the alto and tenor saxophone.  These instruments were pursued until my college graduation.

Loving music, I explored many forms and genres.  Jazz and classical music are appreciated art forms to me.  After meeting my wife, Heather, she opened me to the world of Broadway musicals and show tunes.  We have spent many trips to New York City to see at least one or two shows per season.

My first ‘real DJ job’ was for my Dad’s wedding to my step-mom using home stereo equipment and basic DJ mixer.  I realized that this was FUN.  Hard work, but still fun.  I wanted to pursue this career further and soon-after, my wife saw a newspaper add for a “DJ-assistant”.  I called and was hired to help setup, play cocktail and dinner music, and be a button pusher while my boss ran the event from the dance floor. 

It didn’t take long to see what he was all about and I thought I can do this myself.  With my wife’s support we formed JBS Entertainment in 1996.  Early events were mostly for friends and family.  Since that time, I have learned the importance of networking, education, and support with other professional entertainers who many will consider leaders in the industry.

In addition to the musical background, I also have a background in emergency medicine as a Nationally Registered paramedic.  I live with my wife, Heather in the Philadelphia suburbs.  Heather is our Creative Director and offers her assistance to clients who are looking how to do something just a little different.  As of December 2007, Heather has completed the necessary classwork to become a Registered and Certified Bridal and Wedding Consultant and is a Member of the Association of Bridal Consultants.
